Dhairya Pujara on starting businesses, moving to Mozambique, hosting TED talks, and more!
This week on Outta The Box TV, I had the pleasure of talking with Dhairya Pujara, an extremely interesting guy who has learnt a lot from entrepreneurship & also from travelling the world.
Here’s some background info on Dhairya…
25 year old Dhairya Pujara is an entrepreneur originally from India, but is now based out of Philly. He graduated out of Drexel University, Philadelphia in 2012 with a Masters in Biomedical Engineering. After graduating, he picked up a job in healthcare IT and at first, was excited. However, he quickly realised he didn’t want to be stuck doing this for the rest of his life. So, Dhairya quit his job and abruptly took off to Africa for 5 months to work in a rural hospital in Mozambique.
Upon arrival, he realised that, even though he had a Masters in Biomedical Engineering and new four languages, he had to keep learning as none of that was relevant in Mozambique, where they spoke portuguese. So, Dhairya learnt a little portuguese, organised the first ever TEDx conference in the country of Mozambique and created first of its kind rural training program for the doctors with unused medical equipment donation that they receive from around the world but have no idea on how to use it.
After this stint, Dhairya came back to the USA and started by own social organisation (Founder, CEO) Ycenter which is essentially an outside-the -classroom learning program service provider for college and university students to go out to Africa and India and work on keystone projects with the communities, and ultimately created a global impact.
